"It has a lot of color! It looks nice," said the pontiff with a smile.

Fans consider the fact as a sign of good luck ahead of next week's Liga MX Play In, as seeing the Pope up close is harder than you might think.

The most curious thing is that this is not the only Tigres UANL jersey that the pontiff owns, as the former governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia, gave him one as a gift in 2021.

The politician from Nuevo Leon took his chance while traveling in Italy with his wife Mariana Rodriguez.

Pope Francis' enviable collection

After a decade as the highest authority of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has received a large number of jerseys from teams and sports figures, including two Tigres jerseys.

On different occasions he has admitted to being a soccer fan, with San Lorenzo de Almagro being his greatest love.

The Argentinean has jerseys from Pele and Maradona, whom he was able to meet personally.

He also received signed shirts from Bayern Munich, Villarreal, Barcelona, Sampdoria, and U of Chile, among others.

From Liga MX, it is known that he has also received jerseys from Atlas and Santos.
