- NCAA. Angel Reese rumored romantic link with LSU teammate surfaces
Angel Reese was absent from Louisiana State University's latest NCAA women's basketball contest and on November 17 and she didn't even appear on the bench as her coach refused to explain the reason for her absence.
The empty spot on the bench spoke loudly with people being unable to avoid noticing her no-show, which comes three days after she was benched for the second half of a win against Kent State with her coach, Kim Mulkey, also then refusing to explain why.
"Angel was not in uniform," Mulkey said after the LSU game. "Angel is a part of this basketball team, and we hope she's back with the team soon. I'm not going to answer any more than that."
The LSU 10 has put up good stats in the 2023/24 season so far by averaging 17 points per game, 10.3 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game in an average of 22 minutes as she bids to retain her status as the NCAA's "Most Outstanding Player", but for whatever reason she cannot play at the moment.
Parental feuds
The vacancy has led to infighting for her spot in the team, including among the parents of the young athletes.
Reese's mother, Angel Webb Reese, seemingly called out Kia Brooks, mother of Flau'jae Johnson.
"Folks pls do not sent me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors," Reese posted to Instagram. "It gives me a headache [facepalm emoji] how do I know you said what you said if I can't understand what you're saying [facepalm emoji] [cry-laughing emoji]".
Johnson would go on to accuse Angel Reese of having a low GPA and that her mother is "petty, fake and hateful".
It's a rather bizarre series of events and it remains to be seen how this plays out in the long term for the team and families.
