Samantha Cerio, a former Auburn University gymnast, became infamous around the world for the serious injury that broke both of her legs during the NCAA Baton Rouge regional championship.

"It's been my last night as a gymnast.... My career may not have ended as I had planned... but nothing goes as one plans," announced Cerio, who was 19 years old in 2019, after her terrible diagnosis was confirmed: dislocation of both knees, tibia and fibula fractures in both legs and rupture of several ligaments.

"I worked hard during my recovery to try to make sure I could get back to doing everyday things and start running and jogging. Not that I'm a great runner, but it was something I wanted to make sure I had the ability to do," she explained after recovering from her serious injury.

After serious injury, Cerio shared her dream of being able to walk on her wedding day with Trey Wood, and she achieved it just three months later.

"Walking down the aisle was something that really made the wedding day that much sweeter," she said. "I'm very stubborn."

Cerio, who managed to finish her engineering studies at Auburn, began her professional career as a structural analysis engineer at the prestigious Boeing Company.
